Join the AGD

Welcome to the AGD!

Joining the AGD isn‘t hard: once you have convinced yourself that the benefits are thoroughly worthwhile, fill in the membership form, make out a direct debit order and send them both to us.

Joining the AGD is easy, in fact: we don‘t ask for examples of your work or qualifications. We believe that only someone who is seriously interested in earning money from design work will want to become a member of the AGD. This professional approach is what qualifies you to join. Membership is open to designers from all nations and design disciplines.

The AGD subscription fee is 240 euros per calendar year. The fee should be paid by 31st January of each year, and generally your account will be debited for that amount at the beginning of January. A reduction in membership fees is available to the following groups:

Newcomers to the profession

For the first year newcomers to the design profession pay just 120 euros to become AGD members. From the following year they pay the normal rate.

Spouses

Congratulations on a designer marriage! If both of you are members of the AGD, you each pay the reduced rate of 120 euros per year. But try to avoid divorce – starting the following year, the regular rate should once again be paid.

Partners in a private company

If you are a member of a private company of designers in which at least one other partner is a member of the AGD, all partners in the company will pay the reduced rate. Please attach a list of partners in the private company when you submit your membership application. Should the legal status of your company change, you are obliged to inform the AGD of this.

Senior designers

Designers get old, too - and the AGD is keen to benefit from the experience and knowledge of designers who have reached retirement age. If you have reached the age when you are entitled to a state pension, you will only be asked to pay a quarter of the regular subscription rate: 60 euros. You will have to apply for this reduced rate at the AGD Office. And there is one other condition: you have to have been a member of the AGD for at least five years before this entitlement applies.

Double membership

Are you already a member of another German or European designers’ association? Then there is no need to pay double the subscription rate: in cases of double membership the AGD offers a 20% discount on the regular fee. Several partner associations have taken note of our initiative and now also offer the same discount. (see also link to Double Membership)

The annual subscription period is the calendar year – no matter when you join, you pay the full year‘s subscription fee. Should you ever encounter financial difficulties, please inform the AGD Office in good time. As a rule we can find a way together to get over problems without it being necessary to cancel membership. Please fill in the membership form, including the direct debit order, and send them both to the AGD Office.

You will be sent a receipt for your membership fee when your account has been debited for this amount. In subsequent years the membership fee will be debited from your account each January. Membership fees can be listed as business expenses for tax purposes and are fully deductible. No VAT is charged. The Alliance of German Designers is as strong as its members. Thanks for your interest

Please fill out the application form and send it to the AGD Office.
