The AGD is not only a powerful association but also a powerful network. With over 3,000 members it places at your disposal a pool of experience which is unrivalled in Germany. In many German cities the AGD holds regular meetings and social evenings. It‘s well worth going along, especially since these meetings often include talks on a wide range of issues related to living and working as an independent designer. So you are always up to date with new developments. You will quickly make contact with other people at these meetings.

It‘s very useful to share views and experiences with people in the same position: you‘ll soon discover that the trouble you have just had with a difficult client, for instance, is familiar to colleagues as well. Or your colleagues have found a better way to deal with such situations, and you can get some tips from AGD professionals who may have been working free-lance for a few years longer than you. The more you share such experiences, the better equipped you will be for everyday life as an independent professional designer.
