What is the AGD?
The Network of Independent Designers
Just as a car driver might be a member of an automobile association, a designer can join the Alliance of German Designers; you could manage without the services of an organisation like that, but it makes life a whole lot easier - especially when times are difficult. The AGD is a professional association of independent designers, offering members the advantages of a professional association in the sphere of design along with the security provided by a collective agreement on fees. It addresses the professional needs of independent designers.
The AGD is open to designers in all fields, and with approximately 3,000 members it is by far the largest association of designers in Germany - and one of the biggest in Europe. The AGD offers its members advice on all aspects of commercial activity, legal and tax issues. The AGD is the home address for everyone who prefers not to face the challenges of a tight market alone. It provides a platform for regional and national activities of its members, for networking, meetings and constant exchanges of ideas and experiences.
In short: a member of the AGD is part of a powerful, living community. 2006 sees the AGD celebrate 30 years of existence. It was founded on 25th November 1976 in Bremen as the Arbeitskreis arbeitnehmerähnlicher Grafik-Designer AGD. A high point of the anniversary celebrations will be the annual AGD conference this year, "Designer at Waldeck", at the end of September. You are warmly invited to attend!
